A Personalized Gift for Christmas is the Best Gift

When you’re out shopping for Christmas, don’t just buy a gift card or generic pair of socks, give a personalized gift for Christmas instead.

Just keep all your ties, your CDs, and your fresh-scented soaps. Hang on to your wrankles, your fleebles, and flibberty-flopes. If you truly want to show love to someone you know, a personalized gift for Christmas is the only way to go. (With deepest apologies to Dr. Suess.)

A personalized Christmas gift can take many different forms. It can be an item of clothing that’s been monogrammed, like a person’s initials on a new sweater, a handkerchief, or even a golf shirt. With today’s computer technology, you can monogram a person’s initials or name, but you can even have a photo of your kids monogrammed to a canvas bag to give to the grandparents. Talk about personalization!

We even know someone who can monogram toilet paper, although it’s more suited as a display item, and not something you would actually, well, use. But still, nothing puts the “personal” in “personalized gift for Christmas” like monogrammed toilet paper.

Now don’t get us wrong. Buying a regular gift like a book doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t personalize it. In some cases, getting a personalized, autographed copy of a book is a great way to give a personalized Christmas gift. And if you buy the book at a book signing, you won’t pay any extra for the autograph.

Holiday gift baskets can be another great personalized gift. While you can buy the traditional summer sausage and cheese basket, that’s not very personal. Instead, create your own basket that follows a theme that your loved on will love. If you know they have a favorite country they would love to visit, a great gift can be a basket of food items from that country.

While not completely personal, autographed memorabilia from the person’s favorite athlete would make a memorable personalized gift for Christmas. Check your local sports memorabilia store, sports auction website, or even eBay. Giving a gift like this shows you understand what your friend or family member is truly passionate about. Get an autographed baseball or hat, football or jersey, or even a photo. If you do this, this is one personalized gift for Christmas they will treasure forever.

Admittedly, you can spend a lot of money on a personalized gift for Christmas if you’re not careful. So see if there are some low price options available instead. If your loved one plays golf, don’t spring for an entire set of personalized golf clubs. Instead, golf club markers are an excellent personalized gift for Christmas for your favorite duffer. He or she can stick these markers on the ends of their clubs, and voila! personalized clubs for a small fraction of new clubs. It doesn’t stop there either. You can get personalized balls, tees, tools, bags, shirts, and any other golf-related personalized gift for Christmas you can think of.

Whatever you do, make sure you get a personalized gift for Christmas you know the other person will truly love and appreciate. Anyone in their 30s will remember the episode of “The Simpsons” where Homer got Marge a monogrammed bowling ball with “Homer” engraved on it. Needless to say, this went over like a lead bowling ball. So be sure your personalized gift for Christmas is something truly useful and not just for you.

Finally, if you’re getting your personalized gift monogrammed or labeled, be sure you spell the recipient’s name right. Unless it’s someone you know very well, double-check with someone else in that person’s family to make sure the name is spelled correctly, or if they have a nickname they prefer to use.
